Personal information

Personal Information, is information about an identifiable individual (a natural person). This is also known as ‘PII”.

We have no requirement or need for personal information to provide our services to you.

Only where it is required we may collect or store any personal information freely provided by you for a reasonable purpose. For instance, an email address is required to opt-in as a subscriber to our newsletter, and is only used for the purpose of sending our newsletter to your email address.

We take reasonable steps to keep your personal information safe from loss, unauthorised activity, or other misuse.

Accessing and correcting your personal information

Subject to certain grounds for refusal set out in the Act, you have the right to access your readily retrievable personal information that we hold and to request a correction to your personal information, or deletion. For instance, if you haved signed up to our newsletter, at the footer of the email is an UNSUBSCRIBE link should you wish to opt-out of the emails. This will remove your email from the distribution list, as well as remove the email entirely from our database. Website Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Website Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

Website and App

Listening Time

Our streaming server logs your IP address, how long you listen and if you come back often. This is helpful for us to measure listening and is a requirement for our stream licensing.

Google Analytics Privacy Policy

Google Analytics mainly uses first-party cookies to generate reports on who visits our website and what they do once they get there. We do not use any advertising identifiers that are commonly used for marketing purposes, nor seek consent for this as we do not use their ad products.

Firebase

Firebase Privacy Policy

We use Firebase to measure app activity, and to deliver topic based messaging. Users can opt-in and opt-out of topics within the app settings.

Mailchimp

Mailchimp Privacy Policy

We use Mailchimp to manage our email database. Users can opt-in and opt-out from the link provided within the email delivered, or emailing us directly privacy@retrohitradio.co.nz
